Biography
Daniel E. Gerow, DO is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who serves patients at Midwest Center for Joint Replacement, with locations in Indianapolis, Bloomington, and Terre Haute. Dr. Gerow specializes in knee, hip, and shoulder conditions.
Dr. Gerow earned an undergraduate degree in biology from Marian University, then completed his medical school education at the Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Upon finishing medical school, Gerow went to the University of Michigan for a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery. From there, he was an Adult Reconstruction Fellow at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston.
Dr. Gerow is an avid outdoorsman and cyclist. He first discovered an interest in medicine while performing rescues as a backcountry and whitewater rafting guide in Colorado. His passion for human physiology and medicine was solidified when he rode as a professional cyclist in college. It was in the world of cycling that Dr. Gerow also initially met the surgeons at Midwest Center for Joint Replacement. Their relationship grew into a professional one: Dr. Gerow completed various medical research projects alongside the MCJR surgeons during his training. He joined MCJR in 2025.
Gerow is passionate about serving others abroad with his medical expertise. He travels annually with Team Hope in Motion in Guatemala to provide free surgical care to those in need.
Dr. Gerow is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has published several peer reviewed articles on partial knee arthroplasty, total knee arthroplasty, trauma, and physiology.
Dr. Gerow lives in Indianapolis with his wife, Shannon, who is a nurse practitioner. When he’s not working, he’s likely outside skiing, mountain biking, or kitesurfing, or cycling. He has hopes to sail across the Atlantic Ocean one day!
