After years of joint pain, Susan and her husband Tim have both found renewed energy, freedom, and joy through advanced hip and knee replacement with Dr. Joshua Carter at Midwest Center for Joint Replacement.
For years, Susan led an active lifestyle, attending Tabata classes, hiking, and biking regularly. But when hip pain began to creep in, it slowly started taking those activities away.
“I was very active,” Susan says. “But I started having hip issues that just kept getting worse and worse as the months went on.”
When she met Dr. Joshua Carter at Midwest Center for Joint Replacement (MCJR), she immediately knew she was in the right place.
“The moment I sat down with Dr. Carter, I knew it was a good fit,” she recalls. “Leading up to surgery, everything was wonderful. All the nurses and staff made me feel so comfortable.”
Her surgery experience exceeded expectations. “The surprising thing was how quickly it all went and that they wanted me up and walking right away,” Susan says.
A Shared Experience
Fifteen years earlier, her husband Tim had undergone knee replacement surgery. When pain developed in his other knee, he didn’t hesitate to return to MCJR, this time to see Dr. Carter, inspired by Susan’s fast recovery.
“I felt really comfortable going to Dr. Carter because I saw how Susan bounced back and got right back to her activities,” he says.
“Me going through that gave him the confidence that everything was going to be okay,” Susan adds. “He knew the recovery would be smooth, and it really was.”
Back on Track
Today, the couple is back to doing what they love most: riding bikes, walking together, and enjoying the outdoors without pain.
“We ride our bikes almost every night,” they say with matching smiles. “We can walk without pain, and we feel like ourselves again.”
From fishing trips to evening rides, life now looks, and feels, completely different.
“Dr. Carter gave us our life back,” Susan says. “We can do the things we love again. I feel like a completely different person, and I just can’t say enough.”
